Even if you don’t ever plan to own one there are several valid reasons to learn to drive a stick shift besides avoiding inconvenience or embarrassment. You could help save a life. Be ready to take the wheel anytime. Once you learn to drive a stick shift you can help out by sharing the driving on long trips. Having more than one driver is not only safer but the trip can be a lot more relaxing and enjoyable for everyone. Learn to drive a stick shift and be prepared to drive someone to receive immediate medical attention. Also, if you’re in the market for used you have a much wider range of vehicles to choose from. Once you learn to drive a stick shift you may enjoy it well enough to own one as your next vehicle of choice.
